“Salah is going to be going”: Liverpool told to sign £113 million replacement

Liverpool have been bracing for Jurgen Klopp's departure for some time, a transition that remains challenging for fans, players, and the club's leadership.

As the club prepares for next season, the uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future, fueled by interest from Saudi Arabian teams, adds further complexity.

Even if Salah remains, the need to strengthen Liverpool's forward line is evident, particularly given Diogo Jota's injury struggles, links between Luis Diaz and PSG, and Darwin Nunez’s inconsistent performances.

So who should Liverpool sign?

Former Liverpool player Steve Nicol, when asked about potential signings for Liverpool that would not include top scorers like Manchester City's Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe, who is headed to Real Madrid, suggested Victor Osimhen as an ideal choice.

Speaking on ESPN, Nicol praised the Napoli striker, who has become a standout in Serie A, drawing comparisons with Napoli legend Diego Maradona after contributing significantly to their title win - Napoli’s first in three decades.

Osimhen's ongoing impact is notable, with 13 goals and 3 assists in 19 league appearances this season, despite Napoli’s challenges.

“The fact that Salah might be departing soon—whether this year or the next- I think Osimhen would be fantastic for Liverpool," Nicol stated.

“Osimhen. I think Osimhen would be fantastic for Liverpool. The middle of the park, we have just signed Mac Allister and Szoboszlai. Endo has turned out to be incredible. He (Nunez) can start out wide.”

I agree with Steve Nicol - well, kind of

I don't think Liverpool should sign Osimhen.

He's an incredible player and more clinical than Darwin Nunez but what the club needs is a like-for-like replacement for Salah.

Unfortunately, despite all his talent, Osimhen is not the player the Reds need to replace Salah. He would also cost £113 million, according to reports.

There actually aren't very many players with the ability and resume that suggests they can replace the Egyptian.

What I do agree with is going for the best possible replacement regardless of cost.

Liverpool are likely to receive massive money if they sell Salah and it should be budgeted towards ensuring his departure doesn't derail the club.
