£325,000 per week hitman had Liverpool as his priority destination in the summer

£325,000 per week hitman had Liverpool as his priority destination in the summer

It has been revealed that Raheem Sterling wanted to join Liverpool over Chelsea in the summer.

The 28-year-old signed for the Blues as part of a deal worth £47.5M on a five-year contract worth a reported £325,000 per week.

So far this season, he hasn't been able to recreate the magic he produced at Manchester City. In 22 appearances, he has 6 goals and 3 assists.

Raheem Sterling wanted Liverpool return over Chelsea move

Raheem Sterling was reportedly open to a move to Liverpool but it was a "non-starter, according to the Athletic, and Chelsea remained as his only Premier League option.

It's really quite interesting to learn that Sterling wanted to return to Anfield. It's not a surprise to me as he had a fantastic start to his career.

While many fans resented his decision to choose Manchester over Liverpool, his decision was vindicated as he went on to win four Premier League titles.

At this stage in his career, Liverpool would have been a good destination for Sterling but I'm not sure he's what Klopp wants in a winger anymore.

Liverpool signed Luis Diaz last January and not only did he hit the ground running but he pushed his new teammates onto new levels as they challenged for the quadruple.

What are Liverpool's transfer plans for 2023?

One thing is blatantly clear: Jude Bellingham is a huge priority. He will cost an arm and a leg but it should be more than worth it.

It was reported this week that not only do Liverpool have a financial edge over Real Madrid. I'm not sure how this is possible but it may be due to the fact that the club rarely spends huge money on signings.

News then broke that Liverpool are favourites to land Bellingham this summer and while this may change, it's exciting to imagine him in midfield for the Reds.

The 19-year-old has also been talking about some Liverpool players and it's clear to see that he has huge respect for the players at Anfield already.
