Liverpool told to pay €60M to complete Federico Chiesa signing

Juventus have told Liverpool that in order to complete a move to sign Federico Chiesa, they must pay €60 million.

The Reds are actively exploring potential reinforcements this summer following a disappointing fifth-place finish in the Premier League last season.

With the squad set to undergo significant changes, one name making the headlines is Italian winger Federico Chiesa.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, the 24-year-old's future at Juventus seems uncertain. Chiesa, who tallied an unimpressive record of 4 goals and 4 assists last season, reportedly faces challenges fitting into Max Allegri's tactical system.

The Italian manager's preferred 3-5-2 formation doesn't offer Chiesa his desired role, leading to speculations about his potential exit from the Turin-based club.

Multiple Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, have expressed interest in the young winger.

Despite missing out on Champions League qualification for the upcoming season, the Reds boast the allure of a storied club history and the inspirational presence of Jürgen Klopp.

Known for his admiration of Chiesa's abilities, Klopp is keen on offering the Italian a chance to excel in his preferred role as an "advanced winger."

However, there's a stumbling block in the form of Juventus' valuation of the player. The Italian giants are reportedly holding out for a substantial €60M (£51m)fee, while Liverpool values Chiesa at €40M (£34M). The disparity in the asking price has resulted in a stalemate, leaving the negotiation process at an impasse.

It's understandable that Liverpool are cautious about overspending on transfers, considering the extensive rebuilding required to bounce back from last season's underwhelming performance.

Despite their ambitious pursuit of strengthening the squad, the club already decided against pursuing Jude Bellingham due to financial considerations. The Englishman has since joined Real Madrid.

It's worth noting that Liverpool's attacking department already boasts impressive depth, especially on the left-wing, where Chiesa prefers to operate.

Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo are capable of playing on the left flank. Liverpool aren't in need of any more depth in that department, especially with midfield signings the priority.
