“Liverpool in talks” over transfer decision Klopp has reached five times in January

“Liverpool in talks” over transfer decision Klopp has reached five times in January

Jurgen Klopp has recalled five of his developing stars from their loan spells this month and could bring Calvin Ramsay back as well after Trent Alexander-Arnold picked up a ligament tear.

The Scouser's knee injury is the latest blow to Liverpool's squad health and he joins a long list of injured and absent players amid international tournaments in Asia and Africa.

Klopp has done a great job so far this season of managing the game time of his starting players but the next several weeks will be a stern test for the depth of the squad.

After Trent's injury and subsequent call-up for 20-year-old Conor Bradley, who was excellent against Fulham, Liverpool are set to recall Ramsay from his loan with Preston North End.

Latest on Trent Alexander-Arnold knee injury

Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss 'a few weeks' after a slight knee ligament tear suffered during the 2-0 FA Cup third round win over Arsenal on Sunday.

Providing an injury update ahead of the 2-1 comeback win over Fulham in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg, Pep Lijnders said: "Trent hyperextended his knee during the last game.

"So he has a little tear in the lateral ligament of his knee and he will need time to recover. He had a scan and he will be out for a few weeks, so let's see after that.

"He will get some rest and then hopefully he can come back to where he was. Because this guy was decisive in all the games and was the one who created constantly for us from deep and gave the team a high level of flexibility.

"We will really miss him."

Liverpool may still miss Trent's quality but Conor Bradley did such an incredible job against Fulham that this may prove to not be the case.

With Bradley set to return, Klopp will have two top young options to choose from until Alexander-Arnold is fit enough to return.

David Lynch reports “Liverpool in talks” over Calvin Ramsay loan recall Lynch for This is Anfield

According to David Lynch, reporting for This is Anfield, Liverpool are "ready to recall Ramsay" from his one-year loan move to Championship side Preston North End.

It will mark the fifth time Liverpool have recalled a player from loan this month as the Reds look to regain more squad depth.

It comes after the sheer number of injuries Klopp has had to contend with.

Depending on when Trent returns, Liverpool could still arrange for another loan spell for the rest of the season at the very end of the January transfer window.

Alternatively, he could remain at Anfield for the rest of the season. Klopp's side looks well-placed to continue competing on all four fronts and so there could be need for Ramsay to feature with the sheer number of games still to play this season.
