Liverpool "have asked" club for €50M midfield signing; Reds in lead for his signature

Liverpool have taken another step in their interest in French midfield powerhouse Khephren Thuram.

A report from Italian outlet Tutto Juve, "Liverpool have asked for Khephren Thuram" after their desire to sign him in the summer transfer window saw him choose to stay another season in Ligue 1.

Inter Milan and Juventus are both interested but as is the case in many transfer standoffs between Italian and English teams, money may well be the decisive factor.

"The main issue will be the price," writes Tutto Juve's Massimo Pavan. "If it remains close to €40million-€50 million, the Reds will remain favourites."

Liverpool are strongly placed in the race to sign Thuram

Several reports have recently placed Liverpool as the most likely to sign Thuram in the 2024 summer transfer window.

Last week, Corriere dello Sport first reported that Liverpool's financial firepower gives them a crucial edge over their Italian counterparts.

His agent then reported that he would be unlikely to move to Juventus in January.

Thuram's Brazilian agent Rafaela Pimenta said: “Juventus move? It’s too early to say. I don’t know what’s going to happen yet.

“He’s [a] key player for OGC Nice, usually in January there are no big movements."
