How Liverpool can sign both Lavia and Caicedo for £163 million

How Liverpool can sign both Lavia and Caicedo for £163 million

Romeo Lavia still wants to join Liverpool despite Chelsea's attempts to sign him and with the Blues yet to match the Reds' £111m bid for Moises Caicedo, Jurgen Klopp sign both midfielders.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports about the "weird situation" that has presented itself for Lavia with the 19-year-old reportedly dead set on moving to Anfield.

Tavolieri reports: "Weird situation for Romeo Lavia though. Been told the player is worried about Southampton requests - was expecting [to join] Liverpool and don't have direct contact with Chelsea that are passing through talks between clubs and informing the representatives.

"Southampton are creating a confusing situation as they are not making the life of the young talent easy. Mind of the player still doesn't change."

Chelsea have bid for Lavia to force Liverpool's hand with Caicedo

Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement with Southampton over a fee for Romeo Lavia, according to a Sky Sports report.

How Liverpool can sign both Lavia and Caicedo for £163 million

The Saints have remained firm on their £50 million valuation of the 19-year-old midfielder, rejecting three bids from Liverpool with their highest offer worth around £46 million.

Chelsea had a £48 million bid rejected on Thursday and with Sky Sports reporting stating an agreement is close, Sacha Tavolieri claims an agreement has already been reached worth £52 million plus £3 million in add-ons.

This may be a ploy from the Blues to bluff Liverpool in their stalemate for Moises Caicedo. CEO Billy Hogan sealed a swift agreement with Brighton worth £111 million which Jurgen Klopp confirmed in his Friday press conference.

As things stand, Liverpool are favourites to sign Caicedo with Chelsea under sever scrutiny from the Premier League in regards to the London club's Profit and Loss status.

Double swoop would cost Liverpool £166 million

While Chelsea are posturing as though they will sign both Lavia and Caicedo, it's Liverpool who are best placed to complete a double move worth an estimated £166 million.

It is unclear if the Reds actually have that much cash but after revealing to the world their ability to set Premier League transfer records when they agreed an £111 million fee with Southampton, it's obvious there's a lot we don't know about the club's actual finances.

Lavia, who Liverpool have been adamant is not worth £50 million, could now cost £55 million including add-ons. However, the midfielder is clearly set on a move to Anfield while Chelsea may not be able to pull off a deal to sign Caicedo.

It's unlikely but if FSG back Klopp with both his midfield targets, it would give the German everything he needs to make this season a success.
