"I am very sure": Liverpool receive transfer message with £56m offer imminent

Liverpool are now set to submit an offer to sign Bayern Munich maestro Joshua Kimmich but will face major competition from Manchester City and United... and the player himself.

The hunt for new midfielders continues for Jurgen Klopp as Fabinho and Jordan Henderson edge closer and closer to joining the Saudi Pro League.

While selling two ageing midfielders is usually positive, there are concerns that Liverpool will still fail to complete the midfield rebuild that is so urgently needed.

One player that could join the club if the stars align is Joshua Kimmich although it will be a very difficult deal to complete given the finances involved and the competition they will face.

What's the latest on Joshua Kimmich to Liverpool?

Reports continue to swirl around Liverpool's transfer ambitions and the latest is another link to Kimmich.

According to reports from Spain, cited by Team Talk, Liverpool are set to submit an offer to sign 28-year-old Kimmich and they believe they can "finalise" a move.

Bayern are prepared to sell the German international for around €65m (£56m) but Liverpool will need to compete with both Manchester clubs if they are to secure his signature.

Manchester City and United are reportedly interested in making a move of their own with Kimmich said to be "receptive" to the idea of leaving the Allianz Arena.

However, the midfielder himself has dispelled suggestions he will be leaving the club. Speaking at a press conference on tour with Bayern in Tokyo, he said that he has no plans to leave.

He said: "I am very sure that I will play for FC Bayern next season. I have no other plans."

What are Liverpool's transfer plans?

Liverpool signing Kimmich is a pipe dream as things stand and while his versatility and technical class would provide so many exciting options for Klopp, it's an unrealistic option.

Signing Romeo Lavia remains Liverpool's top priority in terms of incomings and after putting in the work to expedite Fabinho and Jordan Henderson's moves to the Saudi Pro League, the focus has returned to negotiations with Southampton.

The two clubs remain at an impasse over the Saints' £50m asking price but the Reds must be confident they can agree on a fee otherwise it's doubtful they would remain locked in talks.

With Fabinho and Henderson leaving, Liverpool need to ensure they sign enough midfielders to avoid a repeat of last season.
