Liverpool Learn Price For Specialist No.6 That Would Complete Klopp’s Squad

Liverpool have learnt how much it would cost to sign Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha as the Reds monitor his situation at Craven Cottage.

Jurgen Klopp was interested in signing the 28-year-old in the summer and after Bayern Munich's £55 million move to sign Palhinha fell through, he remains a Fulham player.

Robbie Savage has urged Liverpool to sign the Portugal international and now it seems the Anfield outfit is considering a move for the January window.

Palhinha is one of the few players that is affordable, in his prime and interested in joining a bigger club. A move to the Allianz Arena fell through but would he jump at the chance to play at Anfield?

New update reveals Fulham's £70m asking price for Palhinha

Clubs interested in securing the services of Palhinha will reportedly need to cough up a staggering £70 million, according to Anfield Watch. It's a huge fee but he's certainly the type of player to make a huge impact on a team like Liverpool that just needs the final puzzle piece in midfield.

The towering midfielder, who just inked a new contract with Fulham in September, is confirmed to be on Klopp's wish list.

The contract, which is valid until 2028, signifies Fulham's desire to keep the sought-after player in their ranks for the long term.

It also doesn't include a release clause which could complicate potential talks. Liverpool triggered two exit clauses in the summer to sign Alexis Mac Allister for £35 million and Dominik Szoboszlai for £60 million.

Despite the steep price tag, Liverpool could be in the running for Palhinha's signature, as the Reds have reportedly set aside £60 million for the upcoming January transfer window.

Signing Palhinha would complete Klopp's midfield

The departure of Fabinho to Al-Ittihad over the summer created a noticeable vacuum in the Liverpool squad.

The lack of a specialist no.6 has left the team exposed and unable to control the tempo of Premier League matches this season.

Tthe absence of such a player from Liverpool's line-up has left its mark.

Enter Palhinha - a powerhouse in defensive midfield and a player capable of filling the gap Fabinho left.

An adept holding midfielder, Palhinha has consistently showcased his ability to dominate play, protect the defence, and win the ball back.

The addition of Palhinha would also amplify the performance of both Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.

With a sturdy defensive midfielder like Palhinha supporting from behind, Szoboszlai and Mac Allister can better focus on their offensive responsibilities without worrying about the defensive vulnerabilities of the team.

The two new Liverpool midfielders are already impressive players in their own right, yet with a player like Palhinha dominating the space behind them, it would help take them to a new level.
