Huge boost for Liverpool: Newcastle pull out of talks for €55M gem

Earlier this month, Liverpool were told that a €70 million (£60m) offer for Teun Koopmeiners would be accepted.

The issue when the report was published at the start of November was that Newcastle United had already made contact with Atalanta after scouting him quite extensively.

A new report from Tutto Juve suggests that "the chances of him arriving at St James Park this term are low."

This is great news for Liverpool. Especially as they claim he is only valued at €55 million (£48m).

Juventus and Inter Milan are reportedly considering making offers to Atalanta with Newcastle only considering returning to the table in "the summer of 2024."

Jurgen Klopp will not be interested in signing Koopmeiners in January either as signing a defensive midfielder is far more important than an attacking midfielder at this stage.

The German doesn't really make use of attacking midfielders either, preferring to place the full attacking responsibility on his forwards.

Given the glittering array of talent available to him in attack, that should come as no surprise.

Last season, Koopmeiners scored 10 goals and assisted four and while that attacking impetus would always be welcome at Anfield, it would be negligent to sign anything other than a defensive midfielder in January.
