€60M target is aware of interest from Liverpool and Man Utd - decision made

Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign 22-year-old Goncalo Inacio for several months now.

His name is one on the transfer list being considered to replace Joel Matip after an ACL injury derailed the final months of his time as a Red.

His Sporting Lisbon teammate, Ousmane Diomande, is another being considered but it remains unlikely Liverpool will make any new additions this month.

According to Portuguese news outlet O Jogo, Liverpool remain interested in both Inacio and Diomande.

Inacio is reportedly aware of the interest but his priority is to stay in Lisbon where he has a realistic chance of lifting the title this season.

Sporting top the Primeira Liga table and while there is still a long way to go until the end of the season with Benfica just one point behind them, Inacio wants to stay and fight for the title.

It's an admirable decision and one that makes a potentially tricky choice for the Reds.

Do they sign a centre-back now or in the summer? Stick or twist?

Given the rise of Jarell Quansah to prominence, it may be that Liverpool don't urgently need to act in the market to replace Matip.

Once again, the Academy is providing valuable talent at a valuable time.
