Chelsea now ready to sell Liverpool target to balance £1billion transfer spend

Chelsea are prepared to listen to offers for 23-year-old midfielder Conor Gallagher to adhere to the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules.

Everton's 10-point deduction for losing £19.5 million more than the accepted £105 million over a three-year period serves as a stark reminder to Premier League clubs that they need to follow the rules for financial sustainability.

Manchester City are currently under investigation with 115 charges levelled at the champions but Chelsea are feeling the heat themselves after spending over £1billion since Toddy Boehly bought the club in May 2022.

Their spending has been outrageous despite the contract loopholes that allowed them to circumvent FFP guidelines.

However, despite finding a way around UEFA's regulations, Chelsea are still at risk of falling foul of the Premier League's rules if they don't generate enough revenue from player sales.

One player they are considering selling is Conor Gallagher. The midfielder is a target of Liverpool's and, according to the Athletic, Chelsea are ready to listen to offers over £40 million.

Jurgen Klopp needs a defensive midfielder more than he needs another industrious box to box star but, nonetheless, Gallagher's skillset makes him suitable to Liverpool's tactics.
