"World class" Liverpool star told to leave this summer as transfer decision approaches

Caoimhin Kelleher has been informed that it's time to make a decision regarding his future at Liverpool following his standout performance in the Carabao Cup, with Celtic showing interest.

Reports suggest that the Scottish champions are considering acquiring the services of the Liverpool reserve this summer, especially since Joe Hart will be retiring, prompting a search for a new primary goalkeeper in Glasgow's east end.

Ex-Celtic and Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino wasblown away by Kelleher's performance at Wembley.

He told the Times: "All the senior goalkeepers at clubs train together and it is clear that Caoimhin Kelleher, the Liverpool no.2, has learnt so much from the no.1, Alisson.

"The three big saves he made against Chelsea at Wembley were straight out of the playbook of the main man at Anfield. Especially when he made himself big to deny Conor Gallagher in a one-on-one in the second half.

"As he did in last year's Carabao Cup final, Kelleher played a crucial part in Liverpool's victory and it is clear he is getting the most out of time spent with one of the world's best goalkeepers.

"Sooner or later he will have to make a decision on whether he stays at Liverpool or tries to be a No 1 somewhere else. It will not help him being Ireland's No 1 if he is sitting on the bench."

Kelleher demonstrated his top-tier goalkeeper skills during Sunday's Carabao Cup final, contributing significantly to Jurgen Klopp's team's 1-0 victory.

Post-match, Kelleher received high praise from teammate and skipper Virgil van Dijk, who expressed his admiration and confidence in Kelleher's abilities.

After the game he said: "I'm probably one of his biggest fans, I’ve always said he’s world class and he stepped up again today.

"It’s good to see, he’s a good goalkeeper and that’s what we need at a club like Liverpool."
