Bizarre report suggest Jordan Henderson is not in talks with Al-Ettifaq

A fresh report on Tuesday suggests that Liverpool are NOT in talks with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ettifaq regarding a transfer for captain Jordan Henderson.

Journalist for the Liverpool ECHO, Ian Doyle, states that despite reports this morning, the Reds have not entered into official talks with Al-Ettifaq and a move for the Englishman is not as advanced as is widely suggested.

The 33-year-old is training in Germany with his teammates as Liverpool ramp up their pre-season preparations in the Black Forrest ahead of a tour of Asia before the start of the season next month.

In contrast to this claim, Fabrizio Romano tweeted this morning that "negotiations are ongoing" between Liverpool and Al-Ettifaq.

As the Italian reports, there is no possibility of a free transfer with two years still remaining on Henderson's £190,000/week contract.

Liverpool want around £20M to sell Henderson and unless that criteria is met, he will remain at the club.

While Jurgen Klopp appears happy to let the former Sunderland midfielder leave, it does undermine the squad's depth in central areas during a summer transfer window in which the club is working tirelessly to bolster the engine room.
