Liverpool are in the market for a striker and are almost certain to invest in attackers next summer. The club are exploring deals for both wide forwards and strikers but the latter is likely to be a priority if they manage to hold on to Mohamed Salah.
Darwin Nunez has not impressed Arne Slot and his absence from the starting eleven against Manchester City on Sunday showed that Liverpool need a number 9 in the upcoming transfer windows.
The strikers Liverpool would want to sign are almost certain to be unavailable in the winter window and they are likely to spend the big bucks on a forward in the summer.
Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak has emerged as a shock target for the Reds and they are also exploring the possibility of getting their hands on Viktor Gyokeres but his preference is likely to be Manchester United.
However, Omar Marmoush has been one name who has been regularly linked with a move to Liverpool in the next summer transfer window.
Marmoush ‘likely’ to leave despite Eintracht Frankfurt plans

The forward scored twice this weekend against Heidenheim in the Bundesliga to take his tally to 17 goals for the season in 19 appearances across all competitions.
Marmoush is on Liverpool’s radar and there are suggestions that the club have already held talks with his representatives.
The attacker is apparently sold on a move to Liverpool as he dreams of succeeding his idol Mohamed Salah in the team going forward.
According to German broadcaster Sky Deutschland, Eintracht are still trying to convince him to stay and are plotting to offer him a new contract.
However, their plans are unlikely to bear any fruit as Marmoush is ‘likely’ to move on from the Bundesliga club in the summer transfer window.
Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
Liverpool are his preferred destination but some feel the Reds do not have a position for him to play.
Manchester United are also watching Marmoush and he has also been linked with a move to German giants Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
However, if the Reds make a concrete move for him, Marmoush is almost certain to choose Anfield over other options.
Is he the right fit for Arne Slot’s team
Liverpool want a striker who will be more reliable than Nunez and be a regular source of goals. Marmoush has proven that he can be a consistent goalscorer but he is not a number 9.
At first glance, it doesn’t seem the Egyptian has a natural space in Slot’s team. He is not a number 9 or a wide forward. He doesn’t even play on the right if the plan is to sign him as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Marmoush is a forward who prefers to play just behind the number 9 and as things stand, that position doesn’t exist in Slot’s current system.
The Liverpool manager might need to tweak his formation if they sign Marmoush. He is a good enough player to be more versatile but the proof of the pudding will be in the eating.
