Trent Alexander-Arnold has yet to sign a new contract with Liverpool and the saga has raged on for months. The Merseyside giants are desperate to hold on to the 26-year-old but the defender has not made a final decision on his future with little over six months left on his current deal.
Alexander-Arnold showed on Sunday why he is considered the best right-back in the world when he put in a solid performance in a 2-0 win over Manchester City despite just returning to the team after recovering from a hamstring injury.
However, as things stand, he will be able to walk away from Anfield on a free transfer as there is still no agreement over a new deal between Liverpool and the 26-year-old.
Real Madrid are growing increasingly confident that they will be able to convince the player to ignore the offers of a new deal from the Reds and move to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season.
However, Liverpool have offered him a contract that would make him the best-paid player in the Premier League and there are suggestions his family’s love towards the club would eventually be too hard to ignore.
Real Madrid are also aware that Alexander-Arnold joining them is not a done deal and it has been claimed that they are looking at other options as well.
Real Madrid identify Trent Alexander-Arnold alternative at Old Trafford

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot has emerged as a strong alternative for Real Madrid if Alexander-Arnold stays at Anfield.
The Spanish giants are showing serious interest in him and they have already made enquiries for the Portuguese full-back.
Contact was made with the player when Erik ten Hag was the Manchester United manager and their interest in him has persisted.
Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
However, it has been claimed that Manchester United would not even consider selling him for anything less than the €50m mark.
Dalot is admired at the Santiago Bernabeu but he would be an expensive move and Real Madrid’s priority is still to sign Alexander-Arnold.
But the interest in the Manchester United star shows that Real Madrid’s confidence in signing the Liverpool man is not on firm ground at the moment.
