The day he died – Jurgen Klopp gets slammed for breaking Liverpool promise

Jurgen Klopp enjoys a cult status amongst Liverpool fans for becoming the man to end their 30-year wait for a league title.

The German’s decision to leave Liverpool at the end of last season broke hearts on Merseyside and there remains an emotional connection between him and the Reds fans.

Klopp won the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup as the Liverpool manager and is considered one of the greatest managers in the club’s history.

He indicated after his time at Liverpool that his days as a manager or head coach are over and the 57-year-old is set to start in a new job role on 1st January 2025.

Klopp has been appointed as the Global Head of Soccer of the Red Bull group who have investments in several clubs across the world.

His decision to join the Red Bull Group has come under fierce criticism in Germany where RB Leipzig are not the most popular of football clubs for their corporate practices.

The former Liverpool and Dortmund coach was seen as the man of the people and not many expected him to join a group who have been accused of insulting the football tradition of German clubs.

However, journalist Gunter Klein stressed that Klopp even broke a key promise he made to Liverpool fans during the announcement of his departure.

Jurgen Klopp is breaking his promise to the Anfield faithful

Red Bull recently invested in Leeds United and are part shareholder of the Championship club.

The Red Bull logo is plastered around the Leeds shirt, which has been a cause for concern amongst the fans at Elland Road as well.

With Leeds under the influence of the Red Bull Group, Klopp would be responsible for football decisions at the Yorkshire giants.

The German promised the Liverpool fans that he would never work for another English club when he left Anfield last summer.

Klein pointed out that given he will influence decisions at Leeds, Klopp is breaking the key promise he made to the Reds fans.

He took to Twitter and wrote: “The day Jurgen Klopp died.

“And since Red Bull recently joined Leeds United, St. Jurgen is also breaking his promise to Liverpool not to work for any other English club.”

Whether Liverpool fans see Klopp’s involvement at Leeds as some sort of betrayal is another story but Klopp is getting some caustic response from Germany.
