25-year-old reveals the reason he accepted the ‘challenge’ of joining Liverpool

Liverpool have emerged as a real contender to win the Premier League title the season after a rousing start to the new campaign.

The Merseyside giants are sitting at the summit of the Premier League table after winning six of their opening seven league games in the first few months of the season.

New manager Arne Slot has wasted little time in implementing his style of football at Anfield and has managed to get better performances out of certain players.

While expectations are being tempered and many feel that Liverpool’s real test will start after the international break, there is a wave of optimism flowing through the club at the moment.

Several players have performed at a high level this season and Alexis Mac Allister is one of the players who have done well for the new manager.

The Argentinian has formed a solid midfield partnership with Ryan Gravenberch who has been the outstanding player of the season for the Reds thus far.

Mac Allister is already a World Cup winner with Argentina and now he is aiming to win the major trophies with Liverpool.

This is the reason I accepted the challenge and joined Liverpool – Mac Allister

Mac Allister had already won the World Cup with Argentina when he joined the Merseyside giants from Brighton last year.

It’d have been easier for the Argentinian to bask in the glory of being a World Cup winner but he insisted that he is always seeking a fresh challenge.

He stressed that the reason he accepted the challenge of joining a club of Liverpool’s stature is because he wants to continue to win the big trophies and improve himself.

The midfielder pointed out that Liverpool have started the season well and he is certain that he is at the right club for his development as a player.

Asked whether he felt there wouldn’t be any bigger challenge after winning the World Cup, Mac Allister told Argentinian daily Clarin: “No, not at all. I never thought about it like that. Quite the opposite.

“I am privileged to have everything I am experiencing and I want to continue experiencing it.

“I am only 24 years old and I want to continue winning. That’s why I accepted the challenge of coming to a big club like Liverpool and I have in mind to help them achieve great things.

“We started the Premier League in the best way. I want to continue improving and winning and I have no doubt that I’m on the right path.”

Mac Allister is currently on international duty with Argentina but has been training separately due to a groin injury he picked up last weekend.
