Spanish speedster set to join Liverpool after Aston Villa snub

Liverpool are set to sign a Spanish speedster who has turned down a move to Aston Villa. With Arne Slot prioritising fast, versatile attackers in his summer rebuild, this surprise twist marks a statement of intent as Liverpool looks to refresh its attacking options.

The Merseyside giants are in the market for wide forwards as Slot pushes to add more pace and youth to their attack in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Liverpool are signing a proven talent such as Florian Wirtz for a club-record fee, but the club are also keen to add more young players to replace more ageing wingers in the squad.

The Reds have now actively joined the chase for a young winger who has also attracted interest from fellow Premier League outfit Aston Villa this summer.

Liverpool and Aston Villa push to sign Spanish speedster

Liverpool have been monitoring Real Betis winger Jesus Rodriguez with a view to potentially signing him in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Aston Villa have been trying to beat Liverpool to his signature, and are in direct contact with Real Betis to sign the 19-year-old winger.

However, according to ABC Seville via Sport Witness, the Merseyside giants have already put in concrete enquiries to sign the Spanish speedster this summer.

Liverpool’s recruitment team have pointed towards him as a young talent with a high ceiling, and he could become a major player in the coming years.

The Reds are now pushing to try and move ahead of Aston Villa in the chase to sign Rodriguez, but no concrete offers have been made yet.

Rodriguez is considered a special talent in Spain, and Real Betis are working hard to convince him to stay at La Real for the time being.

However, interest from the Premier League could see the teenage winger move to England this summer.
