Shock for Arne Slot as attacking midfielder snubs Liverpool for Premier League rivals

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been at the heart of the club’s transfer plans this summer and has personally invested in holding conversations with targets. However, one of his primary targets has snubbed a move to Anfield in favour of joining a Premier League rival.

The Merseyside giants have shown ambition and intent in the summer to back Arne Slot, who delivered the Premier League title in his first season at Liverpool.

The Dutchman is keen to take the squad to the next level and compete for all the major trophies on offer next season after tasting league success in his first year.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot halted his holidays to speak to the attacking midfielder

Slot and his success last season have been a vital selling point for Liverpool to their targets, and the Dutchman has been an active participant in their charm offensive.

The Liverpool manager halted his holidays to fly down to the south of France at the end of May to hold face-to-face talks with Lyon midfielder Rayan Cherki.

However, according to The Athletic, the French attacking midfielder is on the cusp of completing a move to Manchester City this summer.

Manchester City have an agreement worth £33.7m in place with Lyon for the signature of the 21-year-old French sensation.

Cherki has also agreed terms on a contract with the Premier League giants and will undergo a medical with the club on Tuesday.

The deal is now being processed, and if everything is done on time, the midfielder will be part of Manchester City’s squad for the Club World Cup.
