Saudi government to step in to close deal for Liverpool star

Liverpool are struggling to keep their best players at the midpoint of the season.

The Reds have had a magnificent campaign on the pitch, in the first year of Arne Slot’s reign. Liverpool sit top of the Premier League with six points and a game in hand. Slot’s side made the knockout round of the Champions League with the best record in the competition.

But the noise surrounding Anfield continues to grow. Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk are yet to sign new deals. Salah was approached by Saudi Pro League clubs in January, but Liverpool held firm and rejected any offers.

Now it looks like the Saudi Pro League will intensity their push to force a move. Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah were offered mega deals by the clubs in the region. Al Hilal reportedly offered Salah £65million over two years, while Darwin Nunez was given a £560,000-a-week.

The country’s Sports Minister has now come out and said that the league will do everything possible to bring Mohamed Salah. Saudi Arabia’s minister of sport, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal made this statement in an interview:

“Well, definitely, because if he ticks all the right boxes, even for us, we’d love to have him.

“He’s Egyptian, and we have a very good relationship, and we feel like we are one with the Egyptians as well, from our culture and our history and so on. So to have Mo Salah or other players that are good role models would be a pleasure and a privilege to have in the Saudi League. Will it happen or not? That’s up to the clubs to decide and to see what negotiations go on.”

Salah will remain at Liverpool past the Monday night deadline.

Salah looks to make history

With his brace in the 2-0 win against Bournemouth, the Egyptain forward made history. He continues to climb up the list of the Premier League’s all time top scorers. Salah is now just six goals behind Sergio Aguero. The Liverpool star has made it clear that he wants to remain at the club and make history, but the club will need to offer better contract terms.

Fans would hate to see the club icon leave in the summer, but Liverpool are reportedly working on his deal alongside Van Dijk and Trent.
