Saudi clubs confident of Liverpool move after Manchester City news

Liverpool rivals Manchester City revealed some shock news this week.

Star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is set to leave at the end of his contract this summer. De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah have been two of the best players in the league over the last few years. With the Belgian set to leave at the end of the season, many expect Salah to follow.

The Egyptian is not the only player set to leave Anfield in the summer. Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold could also follow. Rumours have followed the trio since the season began. In January, Saudi Pro League clubs engaged Salah, but Liverpool wanted to keep him till the end of the season.

With the reds close to winning the Premier League in these last few months, Saudi clubs are expected to return to sign some players. Darwin Nunez is one of the players linked with an Anfield exit this summer.

Thomas Spring, Head of Scouting in the Saudi Pro League has recently mentioned two Liverpool players. Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez could be on the move this summer, with multiple clubs circling.

“I think that the recruitment model will be a healthy balance between elite, world-class players. So I still envisage a Mo Salah, a De Bruyne, a Darwin Nunez. I still envisage those players coming across.

“But I also envisage more emerging players like a Jhon Duran, for example, I see more younger players that are really operating successfully in leagues around Europe coming across. And that healthy balance being there.”

Spring also added that the league hopes to challenge Europe’s top competitions in the near future.

“Then I also envisage that the ambition will still be there,” he added. “So the goal of the SPL is to compete with Europe’s top-five leagues. So whatever method to achieve that, whether that’s staffing or facilities or player recruitment, medical, discipline, I envisage they will invest heavily into that. To come on par with Europe’s top-five leagues.”

Salah would be available on a free transfer, whiles Nunez is still under contract at Anfield for another three years.
