The ongoing saga between Liverpool and the Saudi Pro League clubs continues.
Since the start of last year, the Saudi Pro League have been intent on signing Mohamed Salah. The clubs want him to be a marquee signing to boost the image of their competition. However, all their attempts to convince the Egyptian have fallen flat. With Salah’s contract up in the summer, there have been multiple offers to get him to sign a pre-contract since January.
Liverpool are no strangers to dealing with Saudi Pro League clubs. In the past few years, Roberto Firmino, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have all left the club to join the competition.
Quiz: Can you name the team Liverpool signed these players from?
Saudi clubs want Mohamed Salah to end Liverpool contract early

Liverpool had to reject big money offers from the Saudi clubs during the January window. The reds wanted to keep their best players to challenge for silverware. Arne Slot’s side have booked their place in the League Cup final later this month. Liverpool could also end the campaign with the Premier League and Champions Leauge.
Al-Nassr reportedly had offers for Darwin Nunez rejected in January. Al-Hilal also failed with their attempt for Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian forward mentioned that this would be his last year at Anfield. A senior advisor for the Saudi clubs even suggested Salah is using the league to increase his bargaining power for a new Liverpool deal.
According to Ben Jacobs, representatives have contacted the Egyptian recently. The clubs were looking into possibly ending his contract early:
”Saudi dealmakers have approached Liverpool over Mohammed Salah to understand the club’s position on terminating the Egyptian’s contract this summer.” Jacobs revealed via GiveMeSport.
”Salah is still engaged in contract renewal talks with Liverpool, and there remains optimism within the club he will extend, but Saudi Pro League chiefs are also intent on signing the Liverpool attacker for Al-Hilal in time for the Club World Cup
”The Saudi Arabian Football Federation will take FIFA up on a so-called ‘exceptional window’ between June 1-10, allowing clubs to make signings in time for the new 32-team tournament in America. However, getting Salah in time, should he choose to leave Liverpool, would require him ending his Liverpool contract almost a full month early.”
Al Hilal were ready to give Mohamed Salah £600,000 a week over two years which is roughly £65million. A similar financial package would be involved for this situation.
