Liverpool this week opened their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
The reds have now bounced back after their draw against Aston Villa last week. Liverpool beat Manchester City last weekend, and beat Newcastle midweek. Arne Slot’s side dominated two of the best teams in the league within the space of one week.
Dominik Szoboszlai continued his fine form. The attacking midfielder scored the opener against Newcastle after scoring at the Etihad. Mohamed Salah provided the assist for Alexis Mac Allister for the second goal. The reds held out for the rest of the game at Anfield, and secured a comfortable 2-0 win.
Liverpool continue their push to win the treble this season. The reds could win their first trophy of the campaign in the League Cup final against Newcastle next month.

The reds have huge plans as part of their preparations for next season. Liverpool currently have contract issues to resolve this summer. Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold could all depart at the end of the season. There is even more concern, as the club fear they could lose Ibrahima Konate and Virgil Van Dijk. Konate is yet to sign a new deal, with his current contract expiring next year. Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are reportedly very interested.
Because of this, Liverpool have put concrete plans in place for defensive reinforcements. According to Fabrizio Romano, the club is looking at bringing in a defender. Bournemouth center back Dean Huijsen has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield.
Left back is an area the reds are looking to improve too. Konstantinos Tsimikas will reportedly be available this summer. Liverpool are looking for a younger first team replacement. Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez has been linked. And now Ajax defender Jorrel Hato is under serious consideration. Paul Joyce reported that the teenager is being ”studied” by Liverpool. The Dutch international already has a strong link with teammate Ryan Gravenberch, which could open the door for a move to Anfield.
Hato was spotted in the stands when Liverpool played Ipswich earlier this season.
Hato is a perfect match
With Jorrel Hato, Liverpool can cover two positions with one signing. The defender has impressive versatility for his age. A fee around €50 million has been mentioned, which is sort of a bargain for a player of his potential. Liverpool have all the advantages to bring him in ahead of competitors this summer.
