Ruben Amorim dismisses Arne Slot comments

Ruben Amorim dismissed the comments of Arne Slot ahead of his team’s Premier League fixture against Brighton. The Liverpool coach had taken a jibe at Manchester United’s playing style at Anfield.

The Premier League defenders welcomed their North West rivals last Sunday. The 1-2 loss to their bitter rivals left Liverpool third on the table. Meanwhile the Red Devils are on ninth, just two points behind them.

Commenting after the game, Slot had taken a jibe at United’s style consisting low blocks and long balls.

Amorim doesn’t care about Arne Slot

Dismissing Arne Slot’s assessment of his side, the Portuguese manager feels that the game is in his past. “Liverpool is in the past, I don’t want to comment,” he said. “That is not important.”

“(Liverpool) was an important win, but I was the first one to say that we need to play better with the ball. So, I don’t care what Slot is saying, what people are saying about our team.”, outright waving off any comments made by the Anfield boss.

The Dutchman had taken a swipe at United’s tactics as, “a team that defends in a low block and mainly plays the long ball”. Apparently a comparison to his own team’s more attractive brand of football.

Slot needs to break another streak

By winning 1-5 away at Frankfurt, Slot’s men stopped their losing run. However their string of losses in the Premier League needs to be stopped as well. Currently on a hattrick of losses, Liverpool will be travelling to Brentford to buck the trend.

The trip to Gtech Community Stadium won’t be an easy one though. The Bees have beaten Man United and drawn against Chelsea at home this season. Their only loss in front of their fans have been in a tightly contested narrow loss to Man City. An early Erling Haaland goal setting apart the two teams.
