Arne Slot diffuses Mohamed Salah concerns after being dropped

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has diffused any tensions falling out of his decision to drop Mohamed Salah. The club talisman was on the bench in the Champions League win against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Salah was brough on as a substitute with 16 minutes to go as the Reds pumped in five past the Bundesliga outfit. The Egyptian looked visibly frustrated on the bench but Slot is not reading too much into it.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Brighton game, Slot feels it was normal on how Salah reacted to being on the bench.

“I hope he is not ever going to take it well. Because the moment you are going to take it well then you miss the fire.”, he stated.

“That goes for every player by the way, not only Mo. The moment you start to accept that you are not playing anymore. And you are fine with that, then you miss the fire that is needed to play at this level.”

He explained how hard it is at times for a player to understand on why he is not playing. He feels it it good when the player sees football through their own eyes.

Salah is misfiring up front

According to FotMob, the 33 year-old has a shot conversion rate of just 13.3 percent this season. Same time last season, Salah had seven goals and seven assists in all competitions. But this season he stands at three each.

But the real concern is that in his last five games, Salah has failed to find the net or turn provider even once. His last goal contribution was an assist against Everton in the Premier League, more than a month back.

With such form, the sight of Salah warming the benches might turn into a regular affair. Something the player nor Liverpool would prefer. With he turning 34 next year, the time is also ticking on Salah’s involvement with Anfield.
