£180,000/week Liverpool star set to miss monumental Villarreal clash in the Champions League semifinals

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Robert Firmino will miss Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final clash with Villarreal.

It’s a real pity as it was the Brazilian that produced one of the filthiest pieces of skills against the La Liga side back when Liverpool face them in the Europa League semi-final in 2016.

Firmino, who reportedly earns £180,000/week, twisted Roberto Soldado inside out with this turn.

Offering an update ahead of Wednesday’s encounter at Anfield, Klopp said he doesn’t think Firmino is yet ready to return for the Reds.

He hasn’t been available since he bagged a brace against Benfica in the Champions League quarterfinals due to a foot injury.

The boss told Liverpoolfc.com: “I don’t think [he is ready] yet.

“He is running outside and that’s good, obviously, but I am not sure. Maybe somebody will surprise me afterwards and tell me, ‘Yes, Bobby is in.’ [I will have] open arms, but I don’t think so.

“Apart from that, no [new injuries] that I know yet.”

Liverpool’s depth is shining through at the moment at a vital point in the season.

With no disrespect to a player that has scored 11 goals and assisted 4 times this season, Klopp won’t miss Firmino much against Villarreal due to his extensive attacking depth.

The Brazilian is covered centrally by Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and even Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino could step in and do a job for the Reds.
