Liverpool are reportedly trying to beat Real Madrid to AS Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni and contacts have already taken place with the player’s entourage.
While there is a lot of talk about the Reds signing a certain Darwin Nunez after he impressed hugely against them in the Champions League, signing a midfielder remains the priority.

According to Foot Mercato, a reliable source for French football news, “Liverpool want to beat Real Madrid at the post for Aurélien Tchouameni!”
The report states that although it seems outwardly as though the midfielder is destined to move to the Santiago Bernabeu, Liverpool believe they can sneak in and sign him as a deal is yet to be finalized with AS Monaco.
Real Madrid are yet reach an agreement with the Ligue 1 outfit regarding the financial aspects of the arrangement.
The report reads: “Real Madrid would have a hard time convincing both AS Monaco and the player financially speaking.”
“Jurgen Klopp loves Aurelien Tchouameni” and it’s not hard to see why. Foot Mercato reports that “contacts have already taken place between the English club and the player’s entourage”.

Liverpool will have to pay at least €50million to sign Tchouameni
A report from Foot Mercato from March stated that Liverpool will need to pay at least €50million to sign Tchouameni.
Frankly, if the Reds are seriously interested in the Frenchman, they should pay whatever Monaco want for his signature.
He’s going to be one of the best midfielders in the world very soon and under Jurgen Klopp’s guidance, the 22-year-old will realize his potential even sooner.
Why must signing a midfielder this summer be Liverpool’s priority?
While I’d love it if FSG sanctioned a deal for Darwin Nunez, there’s not much use in stacking the squad with fantastic attacking talent while ignoring weaknesses within the rest of the group.
Liverpool have an ageing midfield and it would be wise to act proactively ensure the twilight of Jordan Henderson, Thiago and James Milner’s careers don’t hamstring the club.
Signing a young star like Tchouameni would be the best way to go about it and he seems perfect for the Premier League.
