Dimitar Berbatov says that rivals can’t help but respect Liverpool and the class they have as the Reds target an unprecedented quadruple.
After humiliating Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford before he was sacked by beating the Red Devils 5-0, the Merseysiders did the same to Ralf Rangnick at Anfield.
United were beaten 4-0, taking the aggregate score in the Premier League this season to 9-0.
An utter humiliation for everyone connected to the club yet Dimitar Berbatov says he has nothing but respect for Liverpool.
The former Spurs and United striker said: “It hurts but you have to respect Liverpool. It was hard to watch United’s 4-0 defeat.
“There was a massive difference on the pitch between the two sides. Everyone connected to United is watching Liverpool with envy right now.
“But at the same time when you watch them you have to respect them for the way they play – they are playing good football and they show it on the pitch.
“There is a big difference now between Liverpool and United. Liverpool are targeting a quadruple, United are aiming to scrape into Europe. They have a chance to make history, it’s going to be difficult but not impossible to do it.
“I don’t like supporting City but I don’t want to see Liverpool winning four trophies. Seeing how they have progressed and how United have regressed makes my heart bleed.”
I won’t lie, I take great pleasure in seeing players that ruined my childhood suffering directly at the hands (and feet?) of Jurgen Klopp and his players.
Liverpool have already won the Carabao Cup this season and are in a strong position to win the FA Cup as well.
Meanwhile, Villarreal stand between the Reds and another Champions League final appearance where they are currently set to face Manchester City.

Liverpool are also pitted against Man City in the Premier League where they hope the champions will drop points in order to leapfrog them and take the lead in the title race.
The Reds could win the quadruple this season and set a precedent in English history but it’s going to require some incredible football and a measure of luck.
