Reds star demands £62M from Liverpool as Saudi club lines up mega offer

Liverpool are still trying to keep their best players at the club in the near future.

Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are yet to sign new deals at Anfield. The club’s priority since the start of the season has been to tie down the trio to new contracts. Because of this, Liverpool’s transfer plans have been reportedly pushed to the summer, and no business will be done this month.

Despite all the noise surrounding the club, the Reds have had an impressive season so far. Liverpool topped the Champions League group phase, winning seven games. The club are also currently top of the Premier League with six points and a game in hand.

Everyone at the club has an idea of futures of the three key players. Trent Alexander-Arnold is almost certain to leave Merseyside, with reports stating that he is 98% done with signing a contract with Real Madrid. Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk have made it clear that they would consider remaining at the club if their terms are met.

Salah has been the subject of multiple bids and enquiries from Saudi Pro League clubs this month. However it is believed the Eyptian international wants to finish the season in England, before assessing his options.

According to TeamTalk, Salah looks likely to leave Liverpool in the summer. It is said that both parties are far apart in negotiations. Salah reportedly wants a deal in excess of £400,000 a week over three years, which would amount to £62million. The report claims Al Hilal are ready to offer Salah £600,000 a week over two years which is roughly £65million.

Over the weekend, Salah made it clear that he hopes to end the season with a trophy:

“My motivation this year was really to win a trophy and be a big part of winning that trophy, especially the Premier League,”

“There is still me, Virgil, Trent, Alisson, Joe [Gomez] and Robbo [Andy Robertson], so it’s five or six players left. So I think it’s necessary to win another trophy before we all go.

“I think we need another one. We won almost everything but we won [the Premier League] only once so hopefully we can win it twice. It would be great.”

FSG need to act fast

Regardless of whatever decision the executives of the club will take on the contract saga, it needs to be resolved soon. There are only a few months left to the end of the campaign, and making an early decision can guide transfer plans for the summer. Liverpool losing Mohamed Salah would be a huge blow.
