Arne Slot made it known that he is happy with the current Liverpool squad.
This came after the reds’ Champions League loss to PSV on Wednesday night. The Premier League leaders failed to complete the group phase with a 100% record. Liverpool won seven games before they lost their final game in Holland. The club are through to the knockout round.
Slot mentioned the need to rotate and keep fresh legs after resting nine first team players this week. After Wednesday night, the Dutch coach maintained that he is satisfied with his players:
”I know people sometimes question this because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well. There’s a reason for that – because we’re happy with the squad.”

Midfielder cancels transfer deal with Liverpool

Arne Slot has preferred Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai in midfield this season. This has left talented players like Harvey Elliot and Curtis Jones on the fringes of the first team. Reds youngster Tyler Morton is set to leave the club before the end of the January window.
Another Liverpool midfielder who is set for a transfer is Stefan Bajcetic. The 20-year old has been on loan at Red Bull Salzburg this season, but has reportedly been unhappy with his playing time. Bajcetic has fallen out of favour at Salzburg and has barely featured since the middle of December.
A report from RTK claims that the midfielder is set to move to La Liga on loan. Bajcetic is reportedly completing a loan deal with Las Palmas, and will hope to move before the end of the transfer window. Getafe were also in the running, but the 20-year old ultimately chose a different team. Liverpool will terminate his current loan, before he can join the La Liga side before the end of the month.
Ending loan is a good move by the Reds
Moving Bajcetic to a new club this month is the best decision Liverpool could take. The midfielder clearly fell out of favour, and with the sacking of former Reds coach Pep Lijnders, there was no reason for him to stay. A young players like Bajcetic needs game time, and a move to a top league like La Liga is a perfect destination. If everything goes well, the youngster could be ready to play for Liverpool regularly next season.
