Liverpool are looking to make big moves in the summer window.
The club are aware that they need to improve many areas in the team ahead of next season. Arne Slot has done a great job with the current squad. The former Feyenoord boss has seen the team top of the Premier League with a 13-point gap. Liverpool went to Paris and secured a precious win in the first leg of the Champions League.
Slot could end this season with a treble, and could lift his first trophy of the campaign in the League Cup against Newcastle next weekend. Because of how successful the team have been this season, the club will want to continue their success heading into next season. Liverpool have a big summer transfer window planned.
Quiz: Can you name the team Liverpool signed these players from?
Complications could halt Liverpool deal for major target

Arne Slot has reportedly asked for new faces in attack ahead of next season. Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez have all been unreliable for most parts of this campaign. Mohamed Salah has carried the team for most of this season. The forward has 25 league goals this season, the next highest is Luis Diaz with 9 goals.
Liverpool have also made it clear that they will be in the market for a new striker. As of this week, the club have contacted Alexander Isak over a possible move this summer. Newcastle will reportedly be unwilling to sell their biggest star, but a record fee might change their mind.
Sam McGuire has pointed out red flags when it comes to signing Alexander Isak. He points out that for the fee mentioned for the 25-year old, there are some worrying complications:
“[Isak] turns 26 this year. He’s yet to rack up 3,000 league minutes in a single campaign… For Newcastle, he’s averaged 1,897 minutes across the two full seasons he’s had at St James’ Park. At the time of writing, he’s on 1,984 minutes in the English top flight this season.
“He’s currently averaging 82 minutes per start and there are 11 games left. If he starts all of them, and his average remains the same, he’s going to end the season on 2,886 minutes.
“The point here is he’s not exactly shown himself to be someone who has it in him to play 3,000 league minutes plus 500 minutes in the Champions League. For the rumoured £120million, you at least want availability, don’t you?
“It just feels like a risk, doesn’t it? And Liverpool don’t usually take risks.”
