Liverpool continue to battle to keep players at Anfield in the coming months.
The club could yet still end the season with a treble. Liverpool took a big step towards winning the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday. Arsenal dropped points to West Ham, which allowed the reds to extend their lead.
Mohamed Salah had a goal and assist as he continues to impress this campaign. He already has 40+ goal contributions so far, and is the front runner for Player of the Season. The forward has played a huge part in how well the attack has flourished in Arne Slot’s new system.
Liverpool could lose Salah at the end of this season. As of this month, no progress has been made in contract talks. Despite willingness from both sides to complete a deal, nothing has been agreed upon.

Real Madrid shut down Liverpool move

Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Trent Alexander-Arnold since January. The Spanish club initially made an enquiry at the start of the window. But it was rejected by the reds. Reports from Spain claim that Trent will eventually join the Champions League holders this summer. However, as of last month, the defender is keen to see out the rest of the season before he makes a decision on his future.
Liverpool could also lose another star to Real Madrid. The La Liga side have shown interest in Ibrahima Konate. The French defender’s future at Liverpool is yet to be resolved. The 25-year old has just a year left on his current deal. Konate revealed earlier in the year that there is an offer from Liverpool on the table.
One player will not be joining Real Madrid this summer. Reports of the Spanish side in talks with the Liverpool captain have been shut down. Marca report that Madrid have no interest in signing Virgil van Dijk on a free transfer in the summer window.
Good news for the reds
Van Dijk’s future is yet to be resolved. Liverpool’s captain could leave this summer. It would be a huge blow for the club to lose three of their starting back four in one window. Real Madrid being ruled out of the race means that the reds are still in contention to keep him.
The reds need to do everything possible to keep their captain past this season.
