The future of three first team players at Liverpool are yet to be solved as of January.
Arne Slot is adamant that he is happy with the transfer business done by the club this season. The only permanent first team signing since the dutch coach took over has been Federico Chiesa from Juventus. Chiesa has rarely been available this season due to injury and fitness issues and only returned to action last month.
A rocky start to January lead the fans to believe that the team needed reinforcements if they were to win trophies this season. Liverpool dropped points to Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, as well as losing the first leg of their League Cup semi-final to Spurs.
The Reds have bounced back, winning their last two games. Liverpool beat Brentford away from home, just days after the Bees held Manchester City. Slot’s side also beat Lille in the Champions League, who had been unbeaten in 21-games.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is one of three players at the club that are out of contract in the summer. Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are the other two. The right back has hinted that he wants to take the next step in his career after winning every trophy with the Reds.
Real Madrid have shown a strong interest in Alexander-Arnold, but were only willing to sign him on a free transfer during the summer. But due to an injury to Dani Carvajal, the Champions League holders desperately needed a replacement at the position. Madrid made an official inquiry which was immediately rejected by the Reds. Liverpool have since made it clear that they will not part ways with Trent during the middle of the season.
The Reds are not anticipating any bid from the Spanish giants ahead of the transfer deadline next week. Real Madrid are expected to be back for Alexander-Arnold during the summer.
Good move by the Reds to stand their ground
Keeping Trent Alexander-Arnold at the club was a priority, especially with the team focused on winning trophies this season. It would have made no sense parting ways in January. Now the club can focus on trying to tie down Salah, Trent and Van Dijk before the summer.
Liverpool also rejected a huge bid from the Saudi Pro League for Darwin Nunez.
