Real Madrid closing in on Liverpool star

Liverpool sit at the summit of the Premier League table and are now being considered as the favourites to win the league. However, the club are grappling with the fear of losing some of their most important players at the end of the season.

Everyone is aware that Liverpool are wary of losing Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk on a free transfer in the next summer window.

Liverpool are more confident about tying down Van Dijk on a new deal but negotiations with Salah and Alexander-Arnold’s camps have been far more complicated and protracted.

Salah is said to be keen on staying at Liverpool and the real concern at Anfield is about the prospect of Alexander-Arnold moving on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Real Madrid are pushing hard to convince him to move to Spain and while there are contrary claims, Liverpool do not believe that the defender has made up his mind about leaving Anfield next summer.

I have been hearing this – Merseyside insider

Former Everton chief Keith Wyness has his ears in the ground on Merseyside and is aware of what’s going on in the Red side as well.

He admitted that talks are still ongoing between the three players and Liverpool and feels Arne Slot’s good start to the season has allowed the club to be in a strong position in the negotiations.

Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?

However, Wyness insisted that Real Madrid are still pushing hard to sign Alexander-Arnold and the two sides have been in regular contact over a potential move next summer.

“These three contract negotiations are going on very much in the background”, he said on Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast.

“Certainly, I’m hearing that Trent and Real Madrid are talking a lot at the moment.

“There’s no doubt Slot has had a great start, and he’ll have a much stronger position in these talks.

“He’s been a great replacement for Klopp so far and I’ve been very impressed with his start.

“His voice will now be heard even more on these issues as we move forward.”
