Liverpool tipped to complete major deal

Arne Slot believes Liverpool has got pretty good backups for the regulars

Liverpool and negotiations over new contracts with players have been the theme of their season. Their struggles in talks with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have been well documented but there are other stars at Anfield who are due new deals as well.

The Merseyside giants have made progress in talks with Van Dijk and the club are almost certain that the defender will sign a new deal sooner or later.

However, negotiations with Salah and Alexander-Arnold have been anything but straightforward and there are still no guarantees that either will sign a new contract with the club.

But Liverpool are planning to offer a new deal to a few other players and the club have been in negotiations with a few more stars over securing their future at Anfield.

Ibrahima Konate is one of the defenders who is due a new deal and negotiations are ongoing between his representatives and the Merseyside giants.

A new contract for the defender is a priority

Konate has been brilliant this season and is playing his best football this season under new manager Arne Slot.

The centre-back has been hugely impressive at the heart of their defence and Liverpool are now keen to make sure that his future at the club gets secured.

He will enter the final year of his contract next summer but according to The Athletic, a new deal for the centre-back is a priority for the Merseyside giants.

Talks are underway between Liverpool and his representatives and the club are not expecting any issues in sorting out the new contract.

The defender is happy and feels settled at Anfield and the club are pushing towards getting an agreement done with his representative soon.

Konate is feeling the effects of Slot’s training and playing style, which has allowed him to remain fit and be ready for a regular run of games.

The defender is happy at Liverpool and there are no suggestions that he could be looking for a new club any time soon.

Liverpool will still sign a centre-back next summer but Konate has established himself as a starting defender this season.
