Premier League giants tipped to sign Liverpool star

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has some big decisions to make from now until the end of the season. Several players’ futures are under the scanner with Liverpool assessing the state of their squad ahead of next summer.

The Reds are expected to sign a new number 9 in the next summer transfer window. The club are tracking several strikers as they seek to identify a top target soon.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak are some of the forwards the Merseyside giants are tracking with a view to potentially signing one of them next summer.

Liverpool’s search for a new striker has put Darwin Nunez’s future at the club under the scanner. The Uruguayan has struggled to convince anyone that he can be a consistent goalscorer at the top level.

The arrival of a new number 9 next summer will lead to speculation that Nunez could be moving on from Anfield at the end of the season.

However, the Uruguayan is unlikely to be short of suitors and he could even find a home at one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League if he leaves Liverpool.

Arsenal have been urged to sign the forward

Former Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere is a big admirer of Nunez and has conceded that he would love to see the Uruguayan lead the line at the Emirates.

He admitted that he is a big fan of the work ethic that the Liverpool striker brings to the table and he would be excited to see in an Arsenal shirt.

Aliadiere stressed that a striker such as Nunez can be a nuisance for defenders and despite his inconsistent finishing skills, the Uruguayan’s overall ability brings everyone into the game as he keeps the defence on the toes throughout the 90 minutes.

“I know he is at Liverpool but I am a massive fan of Darwin Nunez”, the former Gunner said on Football365.

“Absolutely mad fan of the guy because I love his work ethic, his runs, his determination and I wish we had a player like him at Arsenal.

“I remember in the summer there were some talks about him coming to Arsenal. That excited me because I’d love to see him with us.

“That type of player keeps bothering defenders, making runs in behind, stretching the defence, even though it’s not for him, it’s for the team, and the others get massive rewards from it.

“I know people will say he needs five chances to score sometimes, he is not the best finisher, I am not bothered about this. For me, the effort and the work rate and the drama that he causes is worth everything.”

It remains to be seen whether Nunez will consider his future at Liverpool if the Reds sign a central striker next summer.
