Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and his recruitment team are focused on adding midfield reinforcements to Arne Slot’s squad in the next summer transfer window.
The Reds expect a quiet winter transfer window as they do not feel the squad need mid-season enhancements with Arne Slot happy with the options he has for the rest of the campaign.
However, Liverpool have big plans for the summer transfer window at the end of the season and work is underway behind the scenes to identify areas of the squad that need strengthening and key targets.
The Merseyside giants are almost certain to add a number six to their squad and Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni are two of the big-name targets on their shortlist.
However, Liverpool are also keeping tabs on young midfield talents who could represent good value for money and have a resale value in the future.
One such young midfield talent from Spain has popped up on their radar and Liverpool fans would love to know that he is drawing comparisons with a certain Xabi Alonso.
Liverpool are watching the next Alonso in Spain

Alonso holds a special place in the hearts of Liverpool fans and was probably one of the finest midfielders to wear the famous Red shirt.
Valencia’s 21-year-old midfielder Javi Guerra has drawn comparisons with the former Red and is attracting the interest of some of the biggest clubs in England and Europe.
According to TBR Football, Liverpool are among the clubs who have been monitoring his performances at Valencia this season.
Liverpool scouts have been mesmerised by the Spain Under-21 midfielder and their recruitment team have received glowing reports on him.
Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham are some of the other Premier League sides who are interested in getting their hands on Guerra.

The Spanish duo of Real Madrid and Barcelona inevitably have their eyes on the young midfielder who could be on the move from Valencia next summer.
Valencia snapped him up from the Villarreal academy in 2019 and he rose through the ranks at Los Che before making his debut in 2022.
He has made 61 competitive appearances for Valencia and is already being touted to move on from the Mestalla in the upcoming transfer windows.
Guerra has a €100m release clause in his contract but Valencia’s financial situation could force them to accept offers in the region of €30m.
