Major concern in Mo Salah contract talks

The Mo Salah contract negotiations have dominated headlines on Merseyside but Liverpool are yet to reach an agreement over a new deal with the player. The talks have dragged on for months as both sides have taken firm stands on what they want out of the potential agreement.

Salah has options in Saudi Arabia and European giants such as Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in getting their hands on him on a free transfer next summer.

However, the 32-year-old has prioritised staying at Anfield and would prefer to sign a new deal and continue playing at a high level at Liverpool.

But the forward wants Liverpool to offer him a contract that respects his contribution to Liverpool over the years and is pushing the club to offer him a three-year contract.

Liverpool also do not want to lose one of their modern greats but the Merseyside giants also do not want to get trapped into a long and expensive contract with a player who could hit his decline soon.

The negotiations have continued between the two sides but for the moment, it seems a resolution is not in sight.

Liverpool and the player are still some way away from seeing eye-to-eye over the terms of the potential new deal.

Salah is ready to accept to sign on the current terms if the club offer him a three-year contract, which Liverpool are reluctant to do.

However, Liverpool remain reluctant to offer a long and expensive contract to a player on the wrong side of the 30s despite Salah’s performances.
