Anfield Central exclusive confirmed in Italy: Liverpool make their move for £58.5million ace

Liverpool have approached Inter Milan over Nico Barella but the player will not be sold in spite of their dire financial situation.

Anfield Central reported at the end of May that Liverpool and Arsenal were tracking Barella as Antonio Conte took his leave amid the club's financial dilemma.

Transfermarkt value him at £58.5million which is likely to be an issue for both Liverpool and Arsenal but reports from Italy suggest the Reds could still sign him.

Liverpool enquire over Barella's situation

The Reds contacted Inter Milan for information on Barella and his future but were told that he will not be sold, according to Calciomercato's Enrico Pecci.

Apparently, that's where talks ended and with Barella with Italy at the EUROs where they are in a strong position to win the tournament, no decisions will be made on his future now in any case.

Even if Inter had said he's available this summer, it seems very unlikely that the Reds would pay what the Serie A champions would demand this summer.

The 24-year-old has a contract with the Nerazzurri until 2024 so it's believable that they will demand £58.5m which German stats site Transfermarkt says is his market value.

Liverpool's summer business dictated by outgoings

It's frustrating but the reality is that Liverpool will always sell to buy so long as FSG is in charge and despite the Super League farce, the American owners aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Liverpool have already cooled interest in Yves Bissouma and Florian Neuhaus and if Calciomercato is to be believed, the same has happened with Barella.

Until sporting director Michael Edwards has managed to offload some of the club's deadwood, it seems unlikely that there will be any more incomings.

Ibrahima Konate has joined the club and is in England as the club gears up for the start of pre-season but it might be a while before he is joined by another signing.
