Kalvin Phillips, reportedly "very seduced by Anfield", has been told by one leading agency that they could help him join Liverpool.

The Englishman was one of the standout performers at the EUROs for England but he has had awful luck with injuries this season, playing just 12 Premier League games.

His injury-enforced absence is an underrated factor in Leeds United's poor performances this season as his combative performances in the middle of the park have been key for Marcelo Bielsa's side since made his first-team debut in 2015.

According to a recruitment source close to Football Insider, Phillips is about to change his agents or has already and one leading agency told the midfielder they have the necessary connections to seal a move to Anfield.

The report reads: "One is believed to have told Phillips “we’ll get you to Liverpool, wherever you like” in an eye-opening sales pitch."

According to Catalan news outlet El Nacional, Liverpool were readying a bid for the Premier League star worth €40million (£33m) although the midfielder is rated at closer to £60m.

I personally find it difficult to imagine Liverpool signing Phillips at that pricepoint given the talent available in Europe and given the fact that he might not even start at Anfield but I've been wrong before and I'll certainly be wrong again.

Liverpool have battled with a lack of midfield depth at times this season with injuries, illness and AFCON causing Klopp a headache at times but signing Phillips isn't the best answer to this problem given his own injuries this season.

That said, until this season, he has had a relatively clean bill of health bar two injuries in the 2020/21 season which kept him out for a total of 7 games but at the age of 26, that's quite impressive.

Given the intensity of the Reds system, they need to be very careful with who they sign as they cannot risk signing a player who will buckle under the pressure.
