The reputation of the PGMOL and their team of referees have been plummeting due to inconsistent decisions but the referees’ body are now being forced into investigating one of their premier officials following some colourful language to describe Liverpool and their former manager Jurgen Klopp.
Football fans raging about referees and perceived injustice towards their club is nothing new and it has been a tradition of the game since time immemorial.
The complaints were supposed to die down with the introduction of Video Assistant Referees but it has only opened a fresh can of worms on interpretations of rules and laws of the game.
However, while fans complained about apparent injustices against their football clubs, the general consensus was that most match officials call the game down the middle and they do not come into games with any inherent biases against one team or the other.
But that consensus could now lie shattered after a premier PGMOL official has been seen describing Liverpool and their former manager Klopp in expletives in a video that emerged on social media earlier today.
PGMOL set to investigate the premier match official
David Coote is one of the top match officials in the PGMOL and is seen on our television screens every weekend in some Premier League game or the other.
He recently came under the fire of Manchester United fans after he was forced into giving a penalty to West Ham by VAR, which was largely seen as a wrong decision.
However, Coote is now facing the heat from Liverpool fans after a video emerged earlier today where he was seen and heard calling Liverpool ‘s***’ and describing Klopp as a ‘c***’ according to reports.
The full context of the video with an unnamed man is still not understood and Coote in another video stressed that whatever he said cannot be out in the open given his job.
However, the cat is out of the bag and PGMOL are now investigating the matter, which could lead to huge ramifications for Coote’s career as a referee in this country.
A PGMOL spokesperson said: “PGMOL are aware of a video circulating on social media and are investigating.”
Can you name the club Liverpool sold these players to?
