Paris Saint-Germain star makes bold Mohamed Salah claim

Paris Saint-Germain have a bold plan to stop Mohamed Salah.

This Liverpool team have been formidable since the year began. Arne Slot’s side have only lost three games in 2025. Two of the losses came about after Slot made huge rotations to the squad. Nine players were rested when the reds were away to PSV in the Champions League; they lost 3-2. Liverpool also suffered a shock defeat to Plymouth in the FA Cup. Big stars like Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah did not feature in that game.

It is unfortunate as that lost prevented the team for challenging for the quadruple. However, the chase for the treble is still on. Liverpool face Newcastle in the League Cup final next weekend. Ahead of the game, the reds have already been handed a huge boost. Arne Slot’s men also have a 13-point lead on top of the Premier League.

If the reds are to win the Champions League this season, they will first need to beat Paris Saint-Germain over two legs. Despite finishing top of the group phase format, Liverpool have been handed one of the more difficult ties. PSG have scored over 20 goals in their last four games; their attack lead by Ousmane Dembele is on form. Liverpool are also coming off big victories over Manchester City and Newcastle. Games where Mohamed Salah showed his influence with a goal and two assists.

Salah has 25 goals and 17 assists in the Premier League, and three goals and four assists in seven Champions League games. Ahead of Wednesday night’s clash, PSG star Joao Neves says the French club are prepared for Mohamed Salah:

“The best way to defend this type of player [Salah] is to have the ball,” Neves said. “Our strategy is to have the ball and to keep it and move it around.”

“We will try to keep ball possession, as much as we can and for as long as we can. They have some quality players, but I think we are [can be] better.”

“They’re not scary numbers, it’s good for Salah to have these numbers and, as a colleague, I’m happy for him.

“But as I have said many times, football is a collective sport, and not an individual sport.”

Joao Neves will hope PSG and their defence can stop one of the best players in the world this season.
