Liverpool are heading into a precarious transfer market with their squad in an odd position.

On one hand, Jurgen Klopp has world-class players like Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk at his disposal and on the other hand, he has underperforming forwards in Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Not to mention Georginio Wijnaldum's contract saga to deal with. The Dutchman is more than likely leaving the club when his deal with the club expires.

This means that Klopp either needs to promote within or to use the transfer market to ensure next season is a more positive one than the 2020/21 campaign has been.

How can Son and Ndombele help usher in a new era at Liverpool?

Sky Sports broke the news at the weekend that Harry Kane wants to leave Spurs this summer as the North London side consistently fails to win silverware as he heads into the twilight of his career.

This is hugely damaging for the Lily Whites but it's tremendous news for their rivals.

For Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea, it could mean they land one of the Premier League's best attackers albeit at a huge price point.

For Liverpool, it can help them kill two birds with one stone by raiding Tottenham for £121.5m-rated duo Son and Ndombele if Harry Kane leaves this summer.

The South Korean is rated at £76.5million by Transfermarkt while Ndombele is valued at £45million.

With a new forward needed at Liverpool, Son could help reignite the fire in the Reds' attack while Ndombele might be the best option available to Klopp with regards to replacing the likely to depart Wijnaldum.

In all competitions this season, Son has 22 goals and 17 assists which is more than even Mohamed Salah has for Liverpool; the Egyptian has 31 goals but just 5 assists.

The Spurs no.7 does seem to ghost a bit when Kane is out of the side or struggling to make an impact which is something Klopp would need to address if he did sign the former Bayer Leverkusen winger.

Son and Ndombele perfectly address the issues at Liverpool.

A lack of regular goals and a departing starting midfielder would not be a problem for the Reds although it seems unlikely Daniel Levy would sanction departures for Kane, Son and Ndombele all in one summer.

That said, the revenue that would generate would help them rebuild and perhaps that's what Spurs need.

Signing Son and Ndombele would also cost more than Liverpool can afford but the Reds act opportunistically in the transfer market and there is a chance here for them to transform their side back into Premier League title contenders.
