Jurgen Klopp will regret allowing Chelsea to sign £63million ace unchallenged

Jurgen Klopp will regret allowing Chelsea to sign Kai Havertz unchallenged in the summer of 2020 even if he didn't exactly explode into life in the Premier League.

Similar to Bruno Fernandes, Havertz is outstanding in a position that Liverpool don't have a lot of quality.

While Roberto Firmino has a very unique role for Liverpool, his quality is on the wane and he doesn't operate with the same impact that he did in the 2017/18 season when he got 27 goals and 17 assists.

In his debut season for Chelsea, Havertz managed 17 goal contributions which is just one fewer than Firmino managed for Jurgen Klopp's side this term.

The major difference is that the no.9 is an established member of the Anfield outfit, playing in his sixth season in the Premier League while Havertz is 21 years old and still adjusting to life at Chelsea.

Add to that the managerial turbulence at Stamford Bridge this season and it's quite impressive that he has done as well as he has.

Still, there is plenty of room for improvement considering he earned his move to Chelsea with 27 goals and assists for Bayer Leverkusen in the 2019/20 campaign.

The Blues signed him for £71million and while Transfermarkt now value him at £63million, he's going to be one of the very best players in the Premier League and I think Jurgen Klopp might regret not signing his compatriot.

The 21-year-old demonstrated his class in the Champions League against Real Madrid with two fantastic displays.

His display in the second leg was particularly impressive.

The German showed tremendous composure to lob Thibaut Courtois and was unlucky to hit the crossbar but Timo Werner showed rare instinct to follow the shot up and convert the rebound to hand the Blues a valuable 2-1 aggregate lead over Los Blancos.

Throughout the second leg in London, Havertz was a menace, using his frame to shield the ball and link play excellently with subtle touches.

Havertz plays a very similar role to Firmino and although his work rate doesn't match the crazy Brazilian's, he might be a player that Klopp regrets not bringing to Anfield.

It must be said, however, considering van Dijk cost Liverpool £75million, it's fair to say that Havertz isn't on the same level so spending £71million on him wouldn't have been as good value.
