Despite finishing as Liverpool’s top goalscorer, Takumi Minamino did not receive an FA Cup winners medal and supporters on social media have demanded he be given one immediately.
Liverpool won their second trophy of the season, completing a cup double over Chelsea, beating the Blues on penalties in a final at Wembley for the second time this season.
Kostas Tsimikas become an instant cult hero by scoring the penalty which secured the trophy, slotting a fine spot-kick into the bottom left-hand corner to send the travelling Kop into delirium.
Fans threw red flares onto the pitch, casting an incredible red mist into the air and ensuring anyone tuning in late would have no doubt as to who won the game.
Luis Diaz was the standout performer on the night while Liverpool were superb on the whole.
Chelsea deserve praise for ensuring that the Reds were unable to beat them in normal time for the fourth time this season.
It was also the second time they were unable to break Thomas Tuchel’s men down in extra time before winning on penalties.
However, Takumi Minamino, one of Jurgen Klopp’s heroes this season in both the FA Cup and League Cup, apparently did not receive a winners medal despite his vital contributions this season.
The Japan star scored a brace against Norwich City in the quarter-final and grabbed a solitary goal against Cardiff City in the 4th Round to help Liverpool to the final.
While he wasn’t in the matchday squad for the final, there is no belittling Minamino’s contributions to the FA Cup triumph as he ended as Liverpool’s top goalscorer in the tournament.
He also got more than any other Liverpool player in the triumphant League Cup campaign and given his contributions to the cup double, he should be given some kind of special recognition by the club.
At the very least, Liverpool need to ensure he receives his medal for the FA Cup win and given that he did not get one on the day, they need to make sure fans get to see him with his medal.

Jurgen Klopp has done a fantastic job of making sure squad players are made to feel special and it’s not just symbolic.
Minamino’s contributions have been very important this season both on the pitch and also as a way to help rotate the attackers that play more regularly.
That said, when he’s been called on Minamino has been a tremendous performer and has a goal or an assist every 77 minutes in the domestic cups this season.
