Liverpool could take their starting XI to even greater heights by signing Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.
According to reports, the Reds are interested in both French stars and signing them would ensure Jurgen Klopp has the best starting XI in the Premier League and Europe.
A spine of Alisson, van Dijk, Fabinho and Mbappe is unbeatable. When you surround that with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Tchoumeni and Diaz, it’s a mouth-watering prospect.
Liverpool have already held talks with Tchouameni’s agents while they have also informed AS Monaco of their interest, according to multiple reports.
The player reportedly prefers a move to the Premier League which makes Liverpool a very strong candidate to sign him this summer.
His arrival would bolster an already world-class midfield and he has the potential to make an impact similar to the one Luis Diaz has made on the Reds this season.
Then there’s the nuclear option. Kylian Mbappe.
The French star’s future is still yet to be confirmed and he said this weekend: “I can’t say about my future but you’ll know very soon… it’s almost decided.
“This isn’t the right moment but yes, yes… my decision is almost done.”
He added: “I will officially announce my decision on the future before I join the France national team in June.”
According to Santi Aouna, Liverpool are one of three clubs, including PSG and Real Madrid, that want to get him to sign a contract this summer.
Of course, there is the small matter of his €25million/season wages which is likely to be the biggest barrier to signing him.
That works out to around €480,000/week (£400,000/week) which the Reds are currently refusing to pay Mohamed Salah.
The only hope for Liverpool, if reports of their interest are genuine, is that Mbappe feels a move to Anfield is worth a sacrifice on potential riches at the Bernabeu.
Jurgen Klopp is the best manager in the world when it comes to maximising an attacker’s potential and a move to Liverpool could see the French star rise to the very, very top of the game.
