Report: Liverpool the "most interested" team in signing €50M midfield titan

Liverpool are 'very interested' in £50M midfield powerhouse that could transform their midfield, according to the latest reports.

The Reds could be in line to move for PSV's Ibrahim Sangare, a powerful midfielder who has shined in the last two years.

With Liverpool likely to move ahead with plans for a midfield rebuild next summer, Sangare stands as a great option.

Considering the latest reports claim that they are interested in the Ivorian, it could be a relatively easy signing to make given he plays outside of Europe's top five leagues.

Latest reports on Sangare to Liverpool

According to the latest reports from Fichajes (via Sport Witness), Liverpool are the most interested in signing Sangare.

The report claims Liverpool ‘want to strengthen themselves with a footballer who can lay the foundations in midfield’ his versatility and youthful energy could be a perfect foil for the more technically gifted Thiago.

It's reported that a fee of €50m would be enough to convince PSV which is down to the fact his contract runs out in 2027. Currently worth around £21M, the length of that deal means any club wanting him will have to pay over the odds.

Over the course of the summer, he was linked with a move to Chelsea, AC Milan and West Ham and its likely he will move on in January or next summer. Liverpool were linked with him earlier in the window, as they targeted Sangare for this summer and Jude Bellingham the next.

What would he offer Liverpool?

As a tall, powerful presence he gives Liverpool something they don't currently have. Their midfield has been littered with more diminutive, technical players and that is still the case with Arthur Melo, Thiago, Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho.

Typically a defensive midfielder, he could offer respite for Fabinho and allow Jurgen Klopp to not lose too much quality in playing Sangare as the lone six. He could also be deployed as one of the players just ahead of Fabinho too - especially in tough away games where extra solidity is needed - for example, the 4-1 loss away at Napoli.

According to WhoScored, he averaged 3.3 tackles, 2.6 interceptions and one clearance a game in the Eredivise last season showcasing his defensive qualities. Going the other way, he managed 1.4 shots per game, 0.8 key passes, 2.4 long balls, 1.6 dribbles and a pass success rate of 86% - he offers an all-round personality on the pitch.

He would only improve in a top team as well, as he would have more of the ball than ever before and the physicality of the league would suit his athletic qualities.
