Timo Werner is reportedly keen to leave Chelsea this summer as the Blues look to sign a world-class striker and is prepared to leave.

There's no denying that things did not go to plan for the German in his first season at Stamford Bridge.

He became something of a meme on social media for his tendency to stray offside and his ability to miss the easiest of chances.

It's difficult to pinpoint exactly what has gone wrong though because at RB Leipzig, in his final season, the striker was feared.

In the 2019.20 season, the campaign which saw interest generated from Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Chelsea, he scored 34 goals and assisted 13.

However, last season, with Frank Lampard leaving in the middle of the season, the German struggle for confidence, things just didn't click for Werner.

He only scored 12 goals, a 64% decrease, but he did assist two more goals which should be seen as a major positive.

Liverpool wanted Werner to wait while they assessed their financial situation but the forward was impatient and he moved to Chelsea so they signed Diogo Jota.

Now, with Werner's value low and 90Min reporting that the striker is open to leaving Stamford Bridge due to Chelsea chasing Erling Haaland, Liverpool should go back in for the former RB Leipzig striker.

It would give Klopp the chance to sign a once clinical striker and if there's a coach that can return him to his devastating ways, it's the Liverpool manager.
