Liverpool currently have multiple injuries in midfield and fans are pressuring the club to move for a midfielder - but who should they sign?

Injuries to Curtis Jones, Thiago, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has left the squad short in the midfield department.

Fans were already worried about the reliability and fitness of their midfield and the current situation has only confirmed their worst fears.

If Liverpool are to sign a midfielder this summer - that isn't Jude Bellingham - George Priestman believes that the Reds should be targeting Konrad Laimer of RB Leipzig.

Why Konrad Laimer?

I think Liverpool could move for RB Leipzig's Konrad Laimer; the Reds have a good working relationship with the German club and the midfielder is in the final year of his deal.

As a midfielder, all of his traits are incredibly suited to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool system. He features in the 99th percentile for successful pressures - with over 100 more pressures than Keita.

He's also in the 84th percentile for tackles and 79th for blocks - showing that he offers defensive stability as well as being able to press intensely. He also only missed five games through injury last season.

On the ball, he's also a great ball carrier being in the 88th percentile for progressive carries - this would be perfect in Liverpool's three-man midfield.

He also offers a decent passing range completing 64% of his long passes last season whilst also ranking in the 95th percentile for assists per 90 (0.26)

Last year he produced four goals and five assists across 43 games in all competitions and his blend of experience, intensity and all-around ability would make him a perfect foil in Liverpool's midfield.

Could the Reds feasibly sign Laimer?

Kicker reported early in May that Liverpool and Tottenham are both in the race to sign Laimer. He also revealed that Steven Gerrard was a player he grew up idolizing.

When speaking to Sky Sports Austria, he claimed: "It is quite possible that I will no longer play in Leipzig next season," which opens the door to a potential move.

He continued: "It's a phase, where I think about my future. I will sit down and talk to the people closest to me and see what is the best possible next step for me."

If Liverpool moved for the midfielder, it's highly likely they could sign Laimer for a fee lower than the likes of Matheus Nunes.
