Multiple sources: Liverpool make approach for £329,000/week superstar that Jurgen Klopp says is "extraordinary"

On Monday, multiple Polish sources broke the news that Liverpool had made an approach for Robert Lewandowski but that he has agreed a contract with Barcelona.

The Bayern Munich striker is looking for a new challenge much like Thiago Alcantara was when he traded the Allianz Arena for Anfield but it would appear as though his former teammate has reached a different conclusion.

Lewandowski reportedly earns £329,000 per week which equates to £17m per season which may be a factor in why Liverpool are not the ones set to sign him but there's no way to tell at this point.

It would be simply incredible to see Jurgen Klopp reunited with his former protégé, someone he called "extraordinary", but despite his prolificacy in Germany, Lewandowski is already 33 (will turn 34 in the summer) and Liverpool are not the type to sign players in that age bracket.

Signing him to a three-year deal that would take him to his 37th birthday doesn't make sense for Liverpool especially when the Reds are already in a contract standoff with Mohamed Salah, a player that deserves the wages Lewandowski would demand far more due to his track record for the club and all that he's done in Red.

While having a natural finisher like Lewandowski, a player that has 46 goals in 40 games this season, could take Liverpool to another level, it doesn't make sense now.

Perhaps if this conversation had taken place three years earlier but moving to La Liga, where Barcelona are in ascendancy under Xaxi, it seems like a great move for the former Dortmund star.
